Weapons and offensive modules

Weapons are part of the module system: cannons, magic towers, explosives, and contact-oriented equipment give the moving castle different ways to fight. Use this page to explore offense, then open the module entry for the action you want to use.

Automatic attacks and abilities can favor different builds

Official balance changes show why the distinction matters. Side Ballista’s automatic attack was weakened while its active ability was strengthened in 0.9.9. Side Arm received stronger rarity-based damage for both parts in 0.9.10.

When choosing between them, begin with how you use the equipment. An active-focused player and a player relying heavily on automatic attacks are not necessarily asking the same question. No universal winner follows from the direction of those changes.

Projectile, magic, and contact considerations

Top Mortar has a projectile-firing active ability. Fire Mage is associated with Firestorm. Ram has received damage-consistency and behavior fixes.

For editorial build planning, consider where you must be to use the weapon, what an unsuccessful attack costs in positioning, and whether you can leave the engagement afterward. Damage potential is only useful when the attack can be applied.

If your search is for a cannon, mage attack, or contact weapon, use the named module as the final reference. Read the action you intend to rely on before comparing it with another weapon. The weapon index is most useful for narrowing an offensive question: what type of action am I trying to apply, and which entry discusses it?

For editorial comparison, distinguish an attack that looks effective in a crowded scene from one that contributes during the opening you actually have.

Offense still needs an answer to incoming attacks

Force Mage’s projectile cancellation is a useful reminder that a module can influence a fight without being evaluated only by outgoing damage. Such utility does not mean every incoming attack can be removed.

Use the build guide for balancing offensive coverage with room to maneuver. Neither page claims a tested best weapon for every boss.

When the missing function is protection or control, continue to the broader module catalogue instead of forcing every useful action into a weapon ranking. When the question is how several choices work together, continue to the build guide.

Category questions

Where can I find weapon details?

Open the matching entry in Modules. Weapons are offensive equipment within that system.

Should I focus on automatic attacks or abilities?

Start with the action you can use reliably while steering. Add more timing-dependent choices as you become comfortable with the vehicle.
