Artifacts add another layer to a build
Artifacts are unlockable options in Wanderburg’s broader progression system. Their value depends on their stated effect, its activation conditions, and the rest of the run. Treat an artifact as a rule to understand before treating it as a power increase.
A good first question is whether your present setup can trigger the effect. A second is whether the effect addresses your current problem.
Read the trigger before choosing an artifact. Ask whether your modules activate it regularly and whether the effect helps with the encounter you are preparing for.
Electric Arrow and Phoenix Feather
Electric Arrow received a trigger-reliability fix in 0.9.10. If you return to a setup that uses it, pay attention to when the effect activates and how that fits your attacks.
Phoenix Feather had its interaction with Valkyrie fixed in 0.9.9. When building around an artifact interaction, read the activation condition alongside the character or equipment it affects.
Choose an artifact for an action your setup actually performs. A powerful-looking effect is less useful to your plan if you rarely meet its condition during an encounter.
How to assess a candidate artifact
Read the exact trigger, the affected action, and any condition or limit. Then compare those requirements with your modules, captain, and planned movement. If you cannot explain when it will help, avoid building the entire run around an assumed interaction.
When two effects appear related, separate observation from causation. Seeing a strong result after equipping both does not show how they combine mathematically. Use one change at a time if you want to investigate an interaction.
Use a conditional explanation when examining an artifact: when this stated condition occurs, this stated action receives this effect. If you cannot complete that sentence from the actual description, the missing part remains a question.
As an editorial selection principle, compare an understandable effect with a speculative combination by asking what each would do in the next relevant encounter. An effect whose condition your setup never meets has no demonstrated contribution to that plan.
| Question | What to establish |
|---|---|
| Trigger | What action activates the effect? |
| Target | Which attack, unit, or resource is affected? |
| Conditions | Does the effect depend on a particular state? |
| Interaction | Is the pairing documented or only suspected? |
Unlocks and rerolls are distinct from drops
Hotfix 0.9.10 awards an additional artifact reroll for each six artifact unlocks. That is a collection-related rule. It is not an artifact drop rate, a guaranteed way to obtain a specific relic, or a proof that every artifact uses the same unlock method.
Use the progression page for this system-level rule and the individual record for any item-specific details.
Keep collection goals separate from an individual artifact recommendation. Moving toward another unlock-based reroll can be a progression objective even when the newly unlocked option is not the centerpiece of your current setup.
Category questions
How should I choose an artifact?
Choose an effect whose trigger fits the actions your build uses regularly. Consider what it adds during the encounter you are preparing for.
Do artifact unlocks help future runs?
Yes. Each six artifact unlocks adds an Artifact Reroll under the 0.9.10 progression rule.
