What is Wanderburg?
Wanderburg is a single-player action roguelike about driving and expanding a mobile castle. Consume smaller targets, upgrade modules, and fight larger fortresses.
Is Wanderburg a roguelike?
Yes. Each run combines a procedurally generated map with castle growth and module upgrades. Between runs, unlock more options for future builds.
Is Wanderburg multiplayer?
Wanderburg is a single-player game.
Is Wanderburg on Steam?
Yes. The Windows PC version entered Steam Early Access on September 8, 2026.
Is there a console version?
Wanderburg is available for Windows PC on Steam.
Does Wanderburg support controllers?
Yes. You can play with mouse, keyboard, or controller. The alternative controller driving style added in 0.9.8 gives you another way to steer; check your in-game controls for bindings.
How do modules work?
Modules add equipment to the fortress and can be upgraded during a run. Official notes distinguish automatic attacks and active abilities, which can change independently in updates.
What do captains do?
Captains change your playstyle through character-specific rules and tradeoffs. Consider ability cooldowns, Nitro recovery, boost exposure, cannon damage, or gold when choosing for your run.
Does Wanderburg have progression between runs?
Yes. Unlock modules, vehicles, artifacts, and captains to open up new build options. Module and artifact unlock counts also add rerolls.
How do I get more build options?
Use the in-game unlock system to work toward new options. See the progression guide for modules, artifacts, vehicles, and captains.
Is the game still in Early Access?
Yes. This guide covers Early Access through 0.9.10; balance and content can change with updates.
Can I still use an old demo guide?
Use the Early Access guides for current play. The demo was retired at launch, and equipment balance and character rules have changed since then.
