Wanderburg Vehicles
Read player-platform records and understand why starting handling and later speed upgrades need separate comparisons.

The vehicle is the platform you have to drive
Tower and Spider are player vehicles. Treat the vehicle as the foundation of a build: it must bring your equipment into a useful position and carry the castle out of danger afterward.
Official materials call these vehicles, and release notes explicitly identify Tower and Spider as player vehicles. The archive uses those names rather than inventing a roster of castle chassis.
The choice matters because movement and combat happen together. A vehicle that feels unfamiliar can make a module seem awkward even when the module is doing what its description says. Separate learning the platform from evaluating a new attack.
Tower and Spider changed after launch
Hotfix 0.9.9 made both vehicles faster at earlier or base levels. Spider’s speed upgrades were also weakened. Those are separate changes: a better starting feel does not imply stronger late-run scaling.
The controls guide explains how to distinguish version changes from differences in your input setup.
A useful handling check
As a practical test, establish how the platform turns, moves forward, reverses where supported, and responds when you use boost. Try those actions before combining them with an unfamiliar captain drawback.
During combat, notice whether you fail to reach an opening or fail to leave it. The first may call for a different approach path; the second may call for preserving Nitro or making a less committed attack. These are observations to guide play, not asserted hidden vehicle statistics.
For an editorial handling comparison, use a familiar stretch of open space to try a broad turn, a change of direction, and a boost followed by recovery. Notice whether your intended path and actual path agree. These are observation tasks, not claims about a fixed turning radius, acceleration formula, or a special vehicle ability.
After that, try the equipment action you already understand. If the attack connects but leaves you facing an awkward exit, adjust the approach before replacing the entire build. If the input itself feels inconsistent, consult the controls guide. Keeping those questions separate makes it easier to learn a new platform without attributing every result to the vehicle name.
Unlock a new way to move
Vehicles unlock between runs and give you another platform for your equipment. Choose a vehicle-learning attempt when you can focus on its movement instead of also learning an unfamiliar captain and several new abilities.
Practice a broad turn, an approach, and a retreat before committing to a difficult fight. Then repeat the sequence with your familiar attack. Pay attention to where the fortress finishes, not only whether the attack lands.
Check the vehicle’s in-game unlock requirement when choosing your next goal. Once it is available, compare its starting feel with its movement after upgrades; those are different parts of the experience.
Category questions
Which vehicle is fastest?
Spider’s base behavior and its upgrades changed in different ways, making an unqualified answer misleading.
Can every enemy fortress be unlocked?
No such rule has been confirmed. Enemy identity and player availability are separate facts.
