If you have not finished a comfortable first run, begin with movement, consumption, and choosing fights. If you already understand those, the build guide helps separate a damage problem from a handling problem. Progression and controls each have their own coverage so you do not have to reread the same introductory advice.
Choose by the problem you can describe, not by the longest article or the most ambitious title. Someone who cannot comfortably leave a fight needs a different starting point from someone who clears familiar encounters but wants to compare equipment. You can move between guides as that question changes; there is no requirement to finish every page before playing.
The route suggestions here are editorial reading paths. They do not represent an official tutorial order or an unlock prerequisite. Each path ends with something practical to check in the game, so reading has a clear purpose rather than becoming another collection task.

| Bosses and biomes | What conditions am I comparing? | Encounter and biome hubs |
Beginner and survival reading
The beginner guide moves from steering and target selection to equipment, Nitro, and avoiding premature fights. It gives practical priorities without assuming a particular unlocked captain or promising a guaranteed route.
For combat preparation, pair it with the boss hub. That page discusses identifying an opening, keeping an escape route, and distinguishing a normal clear from overtime survival.
For a first session, read the beginner guide through movement and target selection, then try those ideas with equipment you already have. Return to its module and captain sections when those decisions become relevant. The immediate learning goal is to recognize why an approach worked or failed, rather than reproduce a complete loadout from memory.
If ordinary movement feels manageable but larger enemies cause trouble, read encounter preparation next. Use it to review ability availability and the position in which an attack leaves you. If the difficulty instead begins before combat, follow the controls page first. Practicing an uncomfortable input setup for longer is a different issue from choosing a weak offensive option.
Build, module, and captain reading
The build guide describes candidate approaches rather than a fabricated best-in-slot list. Use it when deciding whether you need reliable offense, an active-ability emphasis, or more room to recover from a positioning error.
Module and captain records supply the narrow facts behind that reasoning. For example, a cooldown drawback is relevant when evaluating a setup that depends on an active ability; it does not prove the captain is bad in every setup.
For an established player, start the build guide with one concrete question: are attacks hard to apply, are useful actions unavailable when needed, or is recovery after a mistake the limiting factor? Follow the relevant module link to establish the capability. Then use the comparison pages to weigh that capability against the demands of your intended run.
A returning player can take a shorter path through the update archive before revisiting a favorite setup. If the named change concerns an active ability, reread that part of the equipment description. If it concerns a captain penalty, review the complete character rule. A patch headline alone rarely answers whether your previous reason for choosing something still holds.
Progression, controls, and region reading
The progression guide separates unlocks, rerolls, achievements, and difficulty. The controls guide covers supported devices and the alternative driving style added after launch, without guessing keyboard mappings.
Biome records explain which environment or difficulty a patch actually names. Keep that context when comparing your own result with a video: a region, a difficulty variant, and overtime are different pieces of information.
Use progression when the uncertainty is about what the next attempt should accomplish. It separates an unlock, a reroll reward, an achievement, and an ordinary run result. Keep combat execution questions in the beginner or build guide instead; the progression page is most useful when deciding what kind of progress you are trying to make.
Use controls when an action behaves differently from what you expect. Bring the device, vehicle, captain, and version into that investigation. If a maneuver works comfortably in open space but fails around threats, move back to combat preparation rather than assuming a different button mapping must solve it.
For a new region or difficulty, pair biome context with the guide that addresses your present weakness. The environment page tells you what the reviewed notes actually distinguish. The practical guide helps you decide what to observe next. After an attempt, return to the page that answers the new question instead of rereading the entire archive.
