Grassland overview
The Grassland region appears with difficulties 1, 2, and 3 in release-week updates. Grassland Difficulty 2 is called Meadows and was made easier in 0.9.9. Treat Meadows as a difficulty label within Grassland rather than a separate environment in your planning.
A region name gives you a starting context, but the difficulty and whether you continue into overtime describe more of the challenge. Keep those distinctions when choosing a guide or revisiting a previous run.
Reading the environment
Guide advice: use the current surroundings to choose a route. Wanderburg’s map is procedurally generated, so a useful habit is to identify an approachable target, nearby threats, and the direction you can take afterward. A familiar-looking field does not require the same route as another attempt.
When several opportunities compete for attention, choose the one whose continuation you can read comfortably. Growth and combat happen while the fortress moves; an appealing target is less useful if reaching it leaves you surrounded.
Encounters and difficulty context
Taurus Drillus appears in the Grassland 2 adjustments in 0.9.9. Keep that encounter context in mind when comparing experiences from different difficulties. A change to Meadows should not be used as a description of every Grassland challenge.
For a major enemy fortress, prepare a usable action and a route away together. Watch what remains dangerous after the first pass. If the approach fails, decide whether it was the action, its availability, or the position that caused the problem.
Build preparation
Begin with offense you can apply on a familiar vehicle. Add a response to the actual threat that interrupts it rather than choosing equipment solely because a regional guide recommends a famous name.
Force Mage is a module to consider when incoming projectiles repeatedly complicate your route. Ram is relevant if you want contact-oriented play, but it increases the importance of planning a full pass. These are situational roles to assess against the encounter, not a fixed Grassland loadout.
Progression and learning goals
Choose whether this attempt is a familiar clear, practice at a particular difficulty, or an experiment with new equipment. A focused goal makes it easier to interpret the result. Learning a vehicle and increasing the challenge at the same time can make the next adjustment less obvious.
Use the progression guide for unlocks and rerolls between attempts. Keep that collection goal separate from the immediate decision to approach another threat. The current castle still needs a routine that survives the encounter in front of it.
Tips and common mistakes
Name the difficulty when comparing advice. Observe the route after an attack, not only the target before it. If an old approach feels different, consider the update and your equipment state before replacing the whole build.
Avoid treating a more comfortable Meadows experience as proof that every other difficulty will feel the same. Also avoid memorizing a screenshot as a fixed map. Build your habit around reading targets and exits, so the method remains useful when the surroundings change.
Patch notes
A region with multiple difficulty variants. Official notes name its second difficulty Meadows and adjust enemies and encounters across Grassland difficulties.
Hotfix 0.9.9 →Grassland FAQ
Is Meadows a separate biome?
Meadows is the label for Grassland Difficulty 2.
What changed in 0.9.9?
Meadows became easier, and the update included a Taurus Drillus adjustment in Grassland 2.
Can I copy a fixed route?
Read the current map instead. The map is procedurally generated, so target and exit selection are more useful habits than memorized coordinates.
What equipment should I bring?
Start from familiar offense and add the role your current difficulty needs. Projectile control and contact-oriented offense solve different problems.
